The General Out-patient Department (GOPD) renders primary medical care to outpatient of the Hospitals. The GOPD opens daily, Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 8am on all days of the week, and plays a prominent role in providing medical care for all. Patients are treated to the highest standards of quality medical care.
It is the first port of call for all patients to Ayotola Hospital. Patients are seen investigated and treated, and those requiring specialist care are referred to the specialist consultant clinics.
The OPD includes the following specialities – Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics/ Gynaecology, Dermatology,surgery and Family medicine, amongst others. Along with a cadre of nursing staff, our attending Physicians attend to the needs of patients on a daily basis. Every patient undergoes a physical examination and a detailed history, and the findings are presented to the attending physician who then sees the patient on a one-on-one basis.
We deal with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. We provide:
- Care for patients with undefined symptoms and complaints, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, and new occurrences of pain, to help in diagnosis and treatment recommendations
- Preventive screening services for health maintenance, for example, mammograms, Pap smears, routine colon cancer screening evaluations, cholesterol screening, and blood pressure screening
- Collaborative care of patients with chronic medical illnesses, including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and emphysema, throughout the various stages of their illness
- Preoperative evaluation of medical risks prior to surgery
